Our opening session was a little overwhelming, including many key players at the Federal level: Adolfo Carrion, White House Director of Urban Affairs; Karen G. Mills, Administrator of the SBA; Gary Locke, Secretary of the US Department of Commerce; and Tom Vilsack, Secretary of the USDA. By the way, yesterday, we heard from Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President for Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs.

Wow.

This morning I'll sit in on a workshop on how cities can help grow businesses and jobs. This afternoon I'll attend one on putting people to work. The number one issue folks bring to me at our city level is that we need jobs! And I hope to learn more about making Salisbury competitive in that quest.
